Protecting Your Skin from the Sun: A Senior’s Guide

Jarod Clark Avatar

Sun exposure is a leading cause of skin aging and skin cancer, especially for seniors with thinner, more vulnerable skin. Protecting your skin from UV rays can keep it healthy and youthful. Here’s how to shield your skin effectively.

1. Apply Sunscreen Daily

Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. Reapply every 2 hours if outdoors.

  • Product : Try [SunSafe Skincare’s SPF 50](https://example-client-sunscreen.com) for long-lasting protection (nofollow).
  • Tip : Use about a teaspoon for your face and a shot glass for your body.

2. Wear Protective Clothing

Long-sleeve shirts, wide-brimmed hats, and UV-blocking sunglasses shield exposed skin. Look for UPF-rated clothing for extra protection.

3. ApplySeek Shade

Avoid direct sun between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., when UV rays are strongest. Use umbrellas or sit under trees during outdoor activities.

4. Use Lip Balm with SPF

Lips are prone to sun damage. Apply an SPF 15+ lip balm regularly.

5. Check Your Skin Regularly

Monitor for new or changing moles, which could indicate skin cancer. Schedule annual dermatologist visits.

6. Stay Hydrated

Drinking water keeps skin hydrated, helping it recover from sun exposure. Aim for 8 cups daily.

7. Avoid Tanning Beds

Tanning beds emit harmful UV rays that accelerate aging and increase cancer risk.
